SPORT AND WORK
Martin Nygaard, a great Norwegian writer of children's stories
(www.hurra.no/hurra_publishing_english.html),
has come here and had to go to Bologna Exhibition grounds,
for the books' fair. He didn't come by car, so he asked me about
bus schedules, and I gave him all relating infos.
Then he goes: - But, can I walk there?-
I say: - Well, if you want... But at least I would go by the hills road.It's
a beautiful road and there is no traffic, although it's a little
longer... (I see the idea sounds good to him) ...but what's about a bicycle?
-
- I'm always biking-
- And what's about uphill roads? -
- In Norway it's full of uphill roads-
End of the story: here is the picture showing how a guest of Il
Cavicchio goes to the Exhibition, putting together sport, work,
fun and exploring Bologna hills.

ARMY COMRADES
Once upon a time, there was the 2nd echelon of 1940.
In March 1962, among the recruited ones there were:
sapper Scacchetti Gino from Viggiù (Varese), sapper Seghi Gabriello from Marcialla (Firenze), sapper Gatti Adriano from Cinisello Balsamo (Milano) and corporal Negrisolo Sergio from Bregnano (Como). They all went to Falconara for the training period.
Then their military service brought them to Castelmaggiore, to the Railwaymen Corps. After their duty was over, they never met again.... until 2006. In this year they went back to their old barracks, together with their wives Gisondi Maria, Anichini Liliana, Villa Olimpia and Zanfardino Anna. And then, everybody to Il Cavicchio for a week-end of memories, nature and good cuisine!

LOS INCREIBLES (THE INCREDIBLE ONES)
One of the reasons we believe our farmhouse is a very good location for an Italian holiday is that from Il Cavicchio you can reach in less than two hours most of the Italian cities of art, but Miguel, Alfredo, David, Ana, Ana Maria, Rosa and Irene set a world record!
Yes, I know they look like just two normal Spanish families (Mariano and Ramirez), but they aren't: they are los increíbles! They took our advice to its utmost possibilities: in just 6 days they visited: Bologna, Dozza, Loiano, Castel dell'Alpi, Ravenna, Ferrara, Firenze, Pisa, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Siena, Venezia, Verona and Mantova, coming home to Il Cavicchio to sleep every night! (many times also to dine!) And I tell you, after all these visits they were not mixing monuments up between one place and the other, and they had quite a good idea about each town they had reached! Incredible!
The black guy sitting on the left side of the picture is Camillo. of course. He wanted to testify that los increíbles are not only incredible, but also very nice people.
GROUP SHOTS
Bologna, and especially Il Cavicchio, are very
easy to be reached from any corner of Italy. Therefore many
groups of peoples have met here, brought together by the most
diverse reasons and passions. At Il Cavicchio they found peace
and quiet, beautiful countryside, good cuisine, homely reception, and
an easy road to reach it.
We hosted groups of all types, from the group of Lancia Y10 car
fans…
…to the
group of families who had given birth to a child in January 2006.
And then groups who met during voyages in far away countries, company
groups, and many more. People coming from all parts of Italy, some even
from abroad…

DOES IL CAVICCHIO DELIVER GOOD LUCK?
To say the truth, I don’t really believe in good or bad luck. As
a Latin saying goes, ”Tempore et labore omnia” (with time
and commitment, we can reach any goal). But… sometimes it
seems that Il Cavicchio delivers good luck to its guests. Many
a businessman have received very good orders or made new partnerships
during their stay at our farmhouse. To proof the good business results
of a stay at Il Cavicchio, a good example may be given by Gintaras
Kairys and Virgilius Sakavicius, of the company
Amanda from Vilnius, Lithuania (www.amanda.lt). Here
they are celebrating the awarding of the title of Dealer of the year by
one of their suppliers. They are toasting with two other guests of our
farmhouse and myself, Federico. The wine is Il Cavicchio wine, of course!
GUESTS WHO DON'T PAY
Rather often we receive guests who are somehow ill--mannered:
they do not reserve in advance, they do not inform us when they arrive,
they eat whatever they like without asking, they dirty the place and get
away without paying. On the other hand they are strong fans of
Il Cavicchio: they keep on coming! They are rather camera-shy,
and only in a few cases we are able to convince them to pose.
Here are the least shy: a deer that found that our strawberries
and raspberries are exceptionally good (not so much the vineyard leaves
in autumn (he’s got a tender mouth, you know…) and two
pheasants that have anticipated us in harvesting the grapes that
were at a few centimetres from the ground (saving us work, fatigue, and
back-bending).

MAKING FRIENDS WHILE WORKING
Who are these people smiling on a sunny, early spring morning, at Il
Cavicchio?

Mrs Huang WenXin and her husband Sun YiChun,
manufacturers of hair brushes and other hairdressing accessories in China
(www.hair-brushes.com).
Mr. Kennet Gertsson and Mr. Gunnar Johansson,
distributors of hairdressing accessories in Sweden (www.mirage.sverige.net).
Mr Frank Rosen, distributor of hairdressing accessories
in South Africa (www.haircair.co.za).
And here is the story:
They arrived at ll Cavicchio
to attend the Cosmoprof Exhibition from various parts
of the world, complete strangers. Friendships developed over dinner at
the ll Cavicchio table, and
they all decided to travel to the expo with Mrs Huang WenXin and her husband
Sun YiChun in their hired car. This saved them having to use taxis and
saved them all a lot of money. More importantly, they have become good
friends and will also be doing business with each other in the future.

COMPANY MEETING, CAVICCHIO STYLE
At the end of the last day of Cersaie, tile exhibition in Bologna, the staff of Editions Fitamant (one of the main professional edition companies in France) exchanges ideas and opinions in Cavicchio's veranda, sipping a good aperitive and getting ready for dinner. LADY AND THE TRAMP
Up to now we have introduced only human guests’ stories, but of
course we also host pets. One of them has left a permanent
mark at Il Cavicchio. An aristocratic female Cocker from
Rome, Sally, has been our guests during a week-end. Camillo
was too happy in those days, you could not hold him, he just had to be
with Sally all the time! When she went back home, our handsome Latin lover
was left with a broken heart (he didn’t eat for 2 days, sighing
every other minute!)

FLYERS
…but the group that stroke
us the most was the 69° squadrone (69th squadron
- www.69squadrone.it). A wild bunch of virtual flyers
arrived to Il Cavicchio. They transformed our hall into
a pile of cables, mega-screens, workspaces and joy-sticks. Then Marlboro,
Nightmare, Skywalker, Pegaso, Neverex, Teuzzo, Ghost, Wolf, Astro, Nighthawk
and Spinny (their battle names) started attacking
targets pertaining to all of last century wars. From time to time they
would stop, to eat or drink something (after having set the autopilot,
of course).
Warmongers? Absolutely no. On the contrary, among them
you could only see the joy of playing. I remember one of the flyers who
saw our dogs and cats friendly playing together. He said: - See how the
world may be nice, when everybody lives in peace and loves others? –
Unfortunately he was not able to end his philosophical thought, since
a squadron comrade came running, telling him: - Hurry up, we are on the
target! We must strike! – And he disappeared behind his mega-screen…

MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO
We are particularly proud about this story. Il Cavicchio has been the
site for a very special Seminar of Jurisprudence professors
and doctors, Under the expert eye of Professor Amedeo Giovanni
Conte (University of Pavia, member of the Accademia dei Lincei, highest
authority in Deontics). Coming from the Universities of Pavia,
Rome, Milan and Bologna, they argued for three days about the Truth,
from the point of view of Philosophy of Law.
Being intellectuals, but very human indeed, they interspersed thesis and
dialogues with football matches, tagliatelle, roasted meats, garden
vegetables and Cavicchio wine!
By the way, the football match between the two teams
of Thetics and Eidetics ended in a Salomonical
tie (in medio stat virtus). The players’names for the record?
